Ist zwar keine Nintendo VKZ aber trotzdem interessant:

GTA IV - Erste Rekorde gebrochen
500 Millionen Dollar Umsatz

Auch wenn Entwickler Rockstar sich bisher mit Zahlen noch zurückhält, scheint Grand Theft Auto IV nicht nur bei den Wertungen neue Rekorde aufzustellen. Die britischen Marktforscher von Chart-Track haben erste GTA IV-Umsätze für Großbritannien zusammengerechnet: Demnach hat sich das Actionspiel mit dem aufsteigenden Kriminellen Niko Bellic bislang 926.000 Mal auf der Insel verkauft. Alleine am ersten Tag seien 631.000 Stück verkauft worden, berichtet Chart-Track. Damit sei der bisher von GTA: San Andreas gehaltene Rekord von 501.000 Spielen am ersten Tag und 677.000 in der ersten Woche eingestellt worden -- was jedoch seinerzeit im Oktober 2004 nur für die Playstation 2 erschien. Bei GTA 4 liefern sich die Xbox 360 und die PS3 ein Kopf an Kopf-Rennen. Derzeit liegt die Xbox 360 mit 55 zu 45 Prozent leicht vorne.


Die amerikanische Website Vgchartz.com berichtet gleichzeitig, dass sich GTA IV weltweit mehr als sechs Millionen Mal in der ersten Woche verkauft haben soll. Vier Millionen Spiele sollen alleine am ersten Tag oder durch Vorbestellungen verkauft worden sein. Jedoch sind diese Zahlen mit Skepsis zu genießen, da die Quelle der Zahlen unklar ist. Offizielle Marktzahlen von NPD Group dürften noch etwas auf sich warten lassen. Sollten Vgchartz jedoch Recht haben, hätte GTA IV mit rund 390 Millionen US-Dollar Umsatz in der ersten Woche Halo 3 übertumpft, das mit 280 Millionen Dollar bisher den erfolgreichsten Spielestart erzielt hatte. In den offiziellen Xbox Live-Charts hat GTA IV jedenfalls die bisherigen Platzhirsche Call of Duty 4 und Halo 3 auf die Plätze 2. und 3. verwiesen. Wobei nicht klar ist, ob in diese Charts nur Multiplayer-Spiele eingerechnet werden oder einfach alle User gezählt werden, die beim GTA-Solospiel in Xbox Live eingeloggt sind.

Wie die New York Times in ihrer Online-Ausgabe berichtet, wird Publisher Take 2 am Mittwoch den Rekordumsatz von 500 Millionen US-Dollar für GTA IV vermelden. Laut dem Zeitungsbericht, seien in der ersten Woche mehr als sechs Millionen Spiele verkauft worden; 3,6 Millionen alleine am ersten Tag. Diese Zahlen liegen über den Erwartungen der Analysten. Die hohen Verkaufszahlen sind für Take 2 enorm wichtig, da Konkurrent Electronic Arts Anfang des Jahres ein feindliches 2-Milliarden-Dollar-Kaufangebot für Take 2 unterbreitet hatte und der Take 2-Vorstand stets auf den nahen GTA-Release verwies, der den Wert des Unternehmens nochmals deutlich steigern würde. Der Aktionkurs von Take 2 sollte sich nach Bekanntwerden der neuen Zahlen deutlich erhöhen und damit den Kaufpreis für EA hochtreiben.
